Just subscribed, and discovered this post, and it's the first I've heard 
of any problems.  My apologies for any incompatibility.

We just "borrowed" fftw from Fedora Extras, and rebuilt it for rhel4. 
It's a dependency for libofa, which in turn, is a dependency for 
libtunepimp-0.5.x.  Extras packages fftw2 as well., so would an 
acceptable fix be to include fftw2 @ kde-redhat as well? (AFAICT, it 
should provide the the proper shlibs/sonames you're looking for).
