I've added your improvements with some small changes, thanks for the work! 

Might be interesting: you can also make sure that 'denyhosts' is listed in the 
output of '/sbin/chkconfig --list' by adding a %post and %preun script which 
call '/sbin/chkconfig --add' or '/sbin/chkconfig --del' just like for example 
in the spec file of nagios, see
