[tools] mrepo patches - parts 2 and 3

Hi!

Here is the second part of my mrepo patches.

- patch2 is needed for my previous patch to work: It get's rid of the
badly chosen variable names "list", which overwrite python's builtin
function "list()".

- patch3 is an updated version of the symlink-sync patch, I sent one
year ago. It synchronizes symlinks rather than deleting and recreating
them on every metadata generation run.

- the third attachment are unittests that test the behavior of some of
the new parts.

Again, I'd be very happy if you'd consider including those patches in
future releases...
