The current createrepo is createrepo 0.4.6.

In fact it is 0.4.8, but both 0.4.7 and 0.4.8 create new sqlite based 
metadata. And both do not work on older distributions.

I don't understand how it could come this far, but we are in a state of 
development where developers develop everything against the latest and 
greatest and new releases do not run on anything slightly older than 6 
months.

To me that is totally unacceptable as it makes simple tools like 
createrepo (or yum) only work on FC6 or FC7, which is eiher braindead or 
on purpose. Knowing Seth Vidal, I'm not sure which one to pick :)
