SuSE started a long time ago to use Delta- (Patch-) RPMs to save bandwidth.
Example from ftp.gwdg.de:/pub/suse/update/10.1/rpm/i586:

-rw-r--r--    1 emoenke  ftp        523779 May 14  2007 zope-2.7.8-15.11.i586.patch.rpm
-rw-r--r--    1 emoenke  ftp       4150586 May 14  2007 zope-2.7.8-15.11.i586.rpm

So you/we should be fine with the update RPMs. (I prefer mirroring these
instead of the patches, too.)
