Hi,
1. I notice that:
http://dries.studentenweb.org/rpm/mirrors.html
lists the repo mirrors including:
ftp://mirror.pacific.net.au/linux/freshrpms/dag/dries/
And with a bit of following the links one can get to:
ftp://mirror.pacific.net.au/linux/freshrpms/dag/dries/fedora/fc6/i386/dries/RPMS
as a baseurl.
The mirror list at:
http://apt.sw.be/fedora/6/en/mirrors-rpmforge
doesn't currently list the pacific.net.au mirror, so users will never
automatically {randomly} use this mirror.
Who can I contact to request the mirrorlist be updated ?
2. I am currently requesting planetmirror.com {in .au} to update their
mirror to include fc4/5/6 packages, however, they do not currently have
fc4/5/6 packages mirrored in the location linked from the mirrors.html page.
3. Another Australian mirror {partial - no patent encumbered stuff} is at:
http://whitewolf.newcastle.edu.au/yum/fedora/linux/core/dries/fc6/RPMS/
While it is publically available, I have not checked with the system
admins whether they would want the site "published".
4. Is there any plans to provide a fedora like dynamic mirrorlist that
detects the users-ip and returns mirrors from/near the country {geo-ip} ?
This would seem to be a good way to distribute downloads across mirrors
and limit international bandwidth consumed.
Cheers to a more mirrored and easier to use rpmforge,
David Timms.
