I was looking into this as it seems to be something that should not be too 
complex.

But I am a bit puzzled. The package 'perl-RPM-Perlonly' points to 
'http://search.cpan.org/dist/RPM-Perlonly/' but there it reports "The 
distribution 'RPM-Perlonly' cannot be found, did you mean one of these".

Is this a repackage of 'Perl-RPM'? Or some old package which is no longer 
maintained but for which no replacement has been packaged?

It seems that with Perl-RPM one should have the proper tools to write a 
perl program to to this on a daily basis.
