New Flash9 use ALSA plughw:0.0, so if you have an sound system ( esd,  
arts, etc ..) your hardware is already "locked".

You can try this: http://pulseaudio.revolutionlinux.com/PulseAudio for a  
"backend" of sound system for Flash9. :)
