Support doesn't only mean updates for existing applications. It also means 
that new tools get added. Just yesterday I added something very useful 
called bvi (hex editor, binary vi). Even though I had a few hex editors, 
none of them were able to truncate parts which is necessary in some 
circumstances

I didn't build them for FC1, FC2 and FC3 even though they could be very 
useful for someone running an unsupported system as well.

Of course, people can take the SPEC file and rebuild it themselves.
